Before I Die…
After seeing Candy Chang speak at TEDGlobal in the summer of 2012, I knew I had to bring the Before I Die Wall project to the George Washington University campus. I loved the idea of giving my fellow students and community a public space to post their dreams and aspirations and to learn from the perspectives of each other. I found a temporary wall on campus that was set up for construction and decided to turn it into a beautiful Before I Die Wall.
After many months of meeting and collaborating with University officials and fellow students, I was granted approval for the project and was awarded $11,000 to pay for supplies and to bring Candy in to speak at the grand opening. On Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013, the GW Before I Die Wall was unveiled and remained open to the public for three months.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped paint and create the wall, to GW Administration for their support, and to my friend Candy for being such a shining light of inspiration.
