.098 Dan Robbins
When you meet someone as sweet as Dan, and they’re a Kacey Musgraves fan, you hold onto them forever. Showing up to the soccer field over the last couple of years and seeing him there is always such a comforting feeling. He’s the type of person who will always make a point to check in and say hello, no mater the situation, and I deeply appreciate that care and dedication he puts forth with all of his friends. I feel like Dan has such a unique way of moving through life — he does so with so much grace and kindness and he honestly just has an extremely soothing presence that I adore.
Selfishly, one of my favorite things about Dan is that he listens and actually enjoys my laundry list of drag names. Few people humor me with that, and Dan not only listens but throws back his own creations that are both iconic and ridiculous. Conversations with him are truly a breeze and he just makes me feel very welcome. His smile and laugh will knock you out, and if that’s not enough, try his unconditional compassion. As cheesy as this sounds, Dan is a true teammate on and off the field.
Dan, thank you for the likes of Merriam Webster and Anna Chovies. Thank you for always making me laugh and for making me smile whenever your name pops up on my phone. Thank you for showing me that magic that is “Neon Moon” and thank you for taking the time last year to send me the Austin recommendations. I’m so grateful for your friendship and kindness and am lucky to have found a friend like you in this chaotic and wild city. Thank you, Dan, for being you.
