.093 Mercedes Barba
I only have one Mercedes in my life and it comes not in the form of a car, but in friendship. Incredibly terrible joke aside, Mercedes is truly a friend that, upon meeting her, I wish I had so much earlier in my life. She gives off this incredible essence of confidence that is so contagious and inviting that she makes you feel like anything you want to do is possible, and any project idea or thought you have is worth trying and fighting for. Being around her is always a mixture of thought-provoking conversation, California nostalgia, and plenty of laughter.
Mercedes and I met through my boyfriend because they worked together for a time. I can only imagine what that was like. My assumption is that Mercedes brings powerful ideas, compassionate discussion and a true expertise to her role, and I don’t really have to assume given her success and growth just in the short time we’ve known each other. She really does treat everyone around her (colleague, friend, you name it) with such respect and joy that it’s inspiring to all those who come into contact with her.
Mercedes, thank you for being such a hoot to see and hang out with, and thank you for always being supportive of Alejandro and now myself. Thank you for your kind words, for your wonderful smile, and for always knowing how to get us giggling. Thank you for being so smart and so gracious, and thank you for always being so positive toward the future. I’m so grateful to know you and for our friendship. Thank you for being you.
