.011 Kathya Saavedra

During a freshman year business school course, everyone in class had to announce their definitions of “success.” A young woman behind me had a similar answer to mine; one that stemmed from happiness, doing fulfilling, good work, and making sure our families were supported after all they had done for us. After class, she and I spoke for a minute, and that’s not only when I met Kathya, but also when I knew she was a special, thoughtful human being.

Kathya is super driven, very smart, and someone I always admired from afar during college. We never were in the same circles per-say, but we crossed paths a lot through friends and activities and she never failed to be kind and compassionate. She’s got a wonderful outlook on life, is honest with herself and those around her, and she works hard at whatever she sets her mind to.

Kathya, thank you for that wonderful memory so many (ugh) years ago. Thank you for being a wonderful reminder of good in the world, and thank you for your constant respect. You and I share a lot of mutual friends, and I always saw how happy they were around you and how much they adored you. For that, I am so grateful. Thank you for inspiring us with your perspective and work ethic through all that life has to offer, and thank you for being a genuine and caring person. Thank you for being you.
