.148 Rebecca Levene

When Rebecca started at The Met, it was as if a refreshing breeze came through the building, bringing with it a smart and lively energy. Rebecca joined a pretty damn all-star team and very clearly had the same wit, talent, intelligence and drive that makes that team so successful. I connected with her instantly and felt so energized by her honest, fun and diligence approach to the job and life itself. She stood out quickly to me as someone I would consistently be grateful for.

In a place where discussions and planning can really get caught in the weeds, Rebecca always seemed to pierce through that with her straightforward mindset and vibrant personality. Whenever we did end up working directly together, I found it calming and would always have the confidence that things would get done, and with quality. As a human being, Rebecca is just a true pleasure to be around and be friends with. She’s kind, funny as hell, thoughtful and brutally honest which is always extremely revitalizing. She carries with her such a wonderful perspective and matching that with her brain makes for incredible conversation. I have vivid memories of us chatting in her office and leaving (after many laughs) feeling uplifted and connected.

Rebecca, thank you for being such a bright spot in my life during our year or so of overlap at the museum. Thank you for always making me smile whenever I’d see you around the building. I genuinely felt better and a sense of relief if I was walking through the halls and saw you coming. Thank you for always making me laugh and for always looking toward the solution. Thank you for all the joy you so clearly brought your team. Thank you, Rebecca, for being you.
