.198 Jayson Dobney
One of my favorite moments with Jayson was when I got to hear him speak about his passion for the guitar, its power, its symbolism, and how the incredible Rock & Roll show at The Met came to be. This enthusiasm, sheer intelligence, and joy that Jayson has comes through with every interaction with him, and I appreciate it so very much.
Jayson was always such a wonderful face to see at the museum. Working with him was always efficient and fun and usually involved us laughing, which is something I will always cherish. He’s incredibly kind and a hoot to be around, effortlessly balancing being sincere and straightforward with the ability to not take life too seriously. It genuinely brightened my day when we’d run into each other, and I admire him so much for the work that he does and how he treats people in the process.
Jayson, thank you for being such a wonderful colleague and friend. Thank you for the remarkable concerts I was able to assist with and for including me on so many stories, events and adventures. Thank you for your compassion and honesty and for your willingness to make the most of every day for the good of the museum and those who love it. Thank you for being a successful and openly gay man in the world — you inspire those around you more than you know. Thank you, Jayson, for being you!
