.204 Elora López-Nandam
Elora and I have known each other since we were kids in elementary school. I remember always looking up to her because, yes, she was always taller than me, but also because of her unconditional respect and kindness. She seemed to lead her life every single day with a high regard for those around her and a genuine curiosity to learn and better herself.
As time has passed (I haven’t seen Elora in easily over a decade), I have come to appreciate more and more her support and friendship growing up. She was admirable both in and out of the classroom with her astute intelligence and her ability to have fun while learning. She was never rude or exclusive with her behavior, and she always made the time to listen and pay attention. I always felt like she was wise beyond her years, with a maturity and calming sense of herself from very early on. At a time when I was absolutely a menace with my jokes and energy, Elora managed to laugh along with me and make me feel seen and understood. She’s the definition of a good human and I’m grateful to have grown up with her.
Elora, thank you so much for being a part of my childhood and for always being so kind to me. Thank you for being such a smart and strong woman who so many people looked up to (and still do). Thank you for your contagious smile and energy and thank you for being so empathetic in your approach and personality. Thank you, Elora, for being you.
