.298 | to Mindy, from Freddi
I am beyond grateful for my friend, Mindy. I have known her since the 3rd grade, and we are the closest of friends, sisters in sisterhood. It goes without saying that we’ve laughed, cried, know each other’s families, roots, and history and supported each other in pain and joy and change throughout the last 50+ years ( I don’t want to reveal my exact age!). We could talk about old movies and sitcoms for hours. She is such a loyal, wise, inclusive, thoughtful, funny, and unconditional friend to me and all in her orbit. Mindy inspires me with her creativity, her value system and lack of hypocrisy; her commitment to her craft and doing what is right and just in the world. And speaking her opinions with conviction and commitment. I am so grateful for her loyalty, support, and hilarious sense of humor and original wit. I always know if I’m going out with Min or she’s visiting me and my family or just texting back and forth thru the isolation and horrors of the pandemic, that my spirits will be lifted, and my sides will be sore or splitting from laughing so hard. Whether Watergate, beagles, Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn movies, That Girl, Hubble Gardiner, middle school memories, Atticus Finch, Art and Broadway, and the horrors of the GOP and Washingtonian stories, we share endless topics, advise and chatter. I know that the simple foundation and power of true friendship and mutual respect is there like family. Mindy embraces people for who they are and praises and supports others but humble about herself and her own great accomplishments. And my daughter and husband and extended family of friends adore her as well. A talented artist, writer, successful entrepreneur, businesswoman, incredible connector of people, photographer and genius of humor and spirit. After 5 decades, I want to thank you, Min for so much you bring to the lives of others. It really is a gift to have your friendship; the bond, these memories, and to know someone from my past and childhood who “gets me” and is always there with unconditional support and friendship. Min, I thank you for being you!
