Lauren,

On your 30th birthday, I have one word to sum everything up. Gratitude. Today I want you to know how much it means to me to have you as my big sister.

Thank you for being someone I can always look up to. You have led the way in showing me how to seek out and embrace new ideas. You are always pushing me one step further in my thinking and in my understanding of the world.

Thank you for being our family’s social justice warrior. I am deeply grateful for your leadership in pushing our entire family to become better, more compassionate, and more open-minded people.

In that same vein, thank you for being that first person in our family that I could divulge my deepest, darkest secret to. And when I did finally muster up the courage to come out to you, you didn’t just accept me, you celebrated me. Without you, I would never have been able to open up to our family.

I also want to thank you for apparently being my identical twin in a wig. You’ve helped me understand my potential in drag. Where’d you buy your wig? Send link plz.

In all seriousness, I am so excited for you as you enter this new decade. I am absolutely certain that it’s going to be your best one yet.
