.318 | to P & P, from A

For context: I worked on the border with the unaccompanied minors where I met P & P, two 13 year olds who had made the journey to the United States alone. Although I am grateful to every girl I met, these two were the ones I spent the most time with while working at the border site.

I don’t know where to even begin as my experience with you both was one I will never forget. Although I wish we would have met under different circumstances, meeting you both is something I will forever be grateful for. You both did something so brave and courageous at such a young age because of your love for your family, and that love and kindness you each hold shows in every interaction you have with others. The situation you are in is not an easy one and yet you continue to spread love and kindness to all, even on your hardest days.

I know that I was there as the “adult” to help support you during this challenging period, however, you two were my little old ladies with the wisdom of someone who has lived a long life shoved into the bodies of 13 year old girls who love Riverdale and Takis. I learned and gained so much more than I could have imagined by just sharing time with you. You both are a gift to this world and to anyone who is lucky enough to meet you in life.

I think about you both a lot and I can’t wait for one day to see you, P, as a badass lawyer and you, P, as a doctor helping and saving others. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the smiles, laughs and shared stories. I’m forever grateful for you two and I wish you all the best. I hope one day our paths cross again.

Con mucho cariño, A
