.091 Christopher Barberesi
It only took about 15 seconds after meeting Chris to think, “oh, we’re going to get along very well.” He instantly was vulnerable and open with me, allowing for me to do the same, and set the tone for a work relationship (and inevitable friendship) built on honesty and plenty of laughs. He is consistently empathetic, charismatic, and kindhearted. He wears his heart on his sleeve and that sleeve is usually slightly covered by a gorgeous pashmina. I can genuinely say that when Chris walks into a room, I expect to either laugh from a killer impression, smile because of his sweet nature, or both.
Over the months that we’ve worked together, Chris has proven time and time again his innate ability to connect with people around any topic and to eloquently explain and portray any mission or purpose. He’s wonderful at his job and he does it with an inviting confidence and strong character, both of which result in, well, results. One of my favorite traits of Chris is the fact that he doesn’t take life too seriously. He’s candid and quick, funny as hell and such good company. As a friend, he’s deeply loyal and trustworthy, always looking out for you and always checking in. Chris told me fairly early on about his background, skills and passion as a performer, but nothing could have prepared me for the first time I witnessed his magic in person. Chris is a natural talent; natural in the sense that he seems so at ease on stage and cracks up the crown between songs, but he also worked hard to be here. He’s do dedicated to it and practices and practices, ultimately making it something so inspiring to see and hear in person.
Chris, thank you so much for coming into my life with open arms and the willingness to do impressions, jokes and strange noises with me. Thank you for your Moira, your Adele, and for the Corner of the Club. Thank you for making me feel seen and for always knowing how to make me truly gasp for air with laughter. Thank you for our coffee walks, our Thai lunches, and for always being a good listener. Thank you for your tenacious work ethic and for quite literally bringing so much funding and support to the LGBT community. Thank you for always bringing up the mood on our team whenever we need it. I’m so grateful to call you a colleague and a friend and I am so grateful to have your energy and intelligence in my life. Thank you, Chris, for being exactly who you are, 100% of the time.
