.183 Jake Levin
In my opinion, the best part of any TED conference/event is the people that you meet outside of the theater, after the talks on the circular red rug. A perfect example of this magic and connection is Jake. We met 7 years ago this March and instantly hit it off. Jake’s impressive intelligence and deeply kind nature made being friends with him so incredibly easy and an absolute treasure.
Along with Jake’s brain and kindness is his ability to lead while being nurturing, encouraging and open to all ideas and feedback. I am constantly in awe of Jake’s willingness to learn and better himself in all facets of his life and to never be stagnant. He’s wonderful to talk with because of his lovely sense of humor and his innate curiosity. Every conversation is vibrant and stimulating and always leaves me feeling grateful to be friends with him. He’s compassionate and honest, loyal and trustworthy. It’s hard to explain but when we met I felt this sort of quick connection that I knew would grow and most importantly, that it would last.
Jake, thank you for being such a great friend and for giving me so much inspiration, both directly through your work and indirectly through your words that often have that effect on me. Thank you for inviting me to share my story all those years ago in Times Square and for always looking out for new ways to change the world. Thank you for being so sweet and fun. Thank you for welcoming me into your team’s meeting that day and for letting me share some insights and ideas. Thank you for being such a gentleman. Thank you for being you.
