.248 Shabnam Mogharabi

I met Shabnam when we both were speakers at a TEDx event nearly 8 years ago. On and off the stage, her energy was both welcoming and awe-inspiring. She radiated joy, and when I approached her with a crazy idea for a video project, Shabnam was not only just encouraging; she also listened intently and sparked the launch and full realization of the project just a month later in Los Angeles.

I’ll always appreciate Shabnam and her kindness because our crossing of paths was a huge moment for me when it comes to believing in my own ideas and creativity. Shabnam was so sweet and genuinely supportive of what I had to say. She was motivating in her language and was simultaneously honest and straightforward. This clarity and humble respect I received from her was so refreshing and still is when I think of that day. Shabnam is a true force for good in this world and through her work, and honestly just her personality, has without a doubt changed the lives of thousands for the better.

Shabnam, thank you for taking the time that day to listen. Thank you for being so sincere and compassionate with your voice and your actions. Thank you for the beautiful and incredible work that you do, and thank you for the way you’ve positively affected so many lives, including mine. Thank you for being such a champion of joy and bright ideas. I’m so grateful we met and if I know just a sliver of your character, I can only imagine how amazing you are as a mother. Thank you, Shabnam, for being you.
