.249 Adam Kantor

When I first saw Adam, he was singing to a theater of thousands of people. The second time I saw him, just a week before the pandemic shut down the city, he had a room of 30 of us a few floors underground completely entranced and captivated by his art and presence. No matter the venue or the context, Adam’s true force and talent as an actor, singer, and genuine human being is quite unmatched.

We actually met a few weeks prior to me seeing his Darling Grenadine performance, and he blew me away with his grounded sense of humility and empathy. In the span of merely an hour, I could see that Adam is such a kindhearted and compassionate giver of his time, talent and respect. He has such a wonderful eye for the little things in life and what truly matters. He dedicates an immense amount of time and energy off of the stage to helping those in the various communities that he’s a part of, and he does so with such grace and expertise. Above all, however, I am constantly inspired by his seemingly natural ability to tell stories and reach people where they are in their hearts and minds. Seeing Adam perform is a true treasure that I wish everyone in this world could experience.

Adam, thank you for being so welcoming to me, especially at such a busy time. Thank you for listening and engaging and for being so supportive of me and my endeavors as well. Thank you for the honesty and clarity of your words and your actions, and thank you for treating people with such respect, unconditionally. Thank you for making me laugh when we mentioned our “Chiweenie,” and thank you for being just an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Thank you for the gift that is your powerful and beautiful voice and character. Thank you, Adam, for being you.
