.282 | to Liv, from Michael

When Brian first asked me to write something for this project, I immediately knew who I wanted to write about. And as I searched for the words to express my gratitude, I realized I had already put a lot of my thoughts into words 2 years ago. So even though this might not be completely new for you, Liv, these are words that deserve to be shared and heard again.

Liv: You’re a rock star. I think we all sometimes fall into the trap of getting so caught up in everything going on in our lives that we can lose sight of the bigger picture. And you especially, as someone who is always trying to bring out the best in yourself, your friends, your family, your colleagues, and the world in general, can forget how powerful and incredibly special you are. There aren’t many things I’m sure of, but I can say with confidence that your presence in this world makes it a better place—you have a unique power to bring about unbelievable amounts of change and to affect people’s lives, and you use that power in the most positive and selfless way.

On a personal note, whether you realize it or not, you’ve had an immensely important impact on my life. You’ve taught me how to fight for what I believe in, not to settle for mediocre, and that it’s okay to look out & do things for myself. And beyond that, you’ve been there for me in many of the moments I’ve needed someone most, somehow always seeming to know whether I need someone to knock sense into me or simply listen.

It’s crazy to think that we first met as colleagues over 5 years ago. So much has happened since then. We’ve done a lot of growing up, but in our own ways, the adventuring has never stopped. It’s been so amazing to see all that’s happened in your life over the past years, and I especially can’t wait to meet Noor and see her grow up into the most incredible, strong woman.

This is all to say that I appreciate you an unbelievable amount. I miss you a ton, as does New York City. We can’t wait to welcome you back, whenever that may be :)
