.290 | to Jake, from Marissa

Jake is a beacon of light in a dark room, the rainbow at the end of a storm, and the encore of your first live concert post covid. He brings so much positivity, love, and happiness to any room he is in. He can make friends with just about anyone and have them laughing in seconds. I think Jake had me laughing in the first 5 minutes of meeting and we haven’t stopped since. His energy is contagious but his ultimate secret skill is his ability to make his friends feel so special. Since I have known him, Jake has always made me feel seen. I sometimes can be a wall flower or overpowered by bigger personalities and Jake has always found me in those moments to bring me back in the conversation or joined me on the sidelines to have one on one time. He makes me feel heard, seen, and cared for. Jake always showers me with so much love when I see him, whether its through simple acts like carrying my things, keeping me warm, hugging me so hard it hurts or just sending a quick "I love you" voice note. I am so grateful for his positivity, laughter, and love.

Jake not only fills my heart but he also feeds my soul with intellectual conversations and always saying yes to an adventure. We can talk for hours about politics, science, news, & books, sharing our thoughts and ideas in a safe place. I am grateful for his mind and his experience. He challenges me to think differently. Together we nerd out and never feel ashamed for it. Jake and I also share a love for travel. As we all get older and a but more settled it is hard to find friends that will take action and take the time to go somewhere new. Jake is a "YES MAN", any adventure that comes his way he says yes to. I admire that so much about him and often times he inspires me to say yes more in my own life. Not only that when I told him I was moving abroad he didn’t hesitate for a second to book a trip out to visit and become a part of my new life even for a short time. Having him in London brought a little a piece of home to me and memories I will never forget.

Jake came into my life at a time when I didn’t think I could make close friends as an adult and he proved me wrong. I am so incredibly thankful for his friendship and love. Near or far I know we will be friends for life and continue to support one another. Thank you Jake for being you, for being in my life and for being a part of my chosen family. Love you bebe.
